Do I need a prescription for my order?
It depends on the medicine you want to order, because not every product in Mexico is handled in the same way. Some medications can be purchased without a prescription, while others need prescription information before our pharmacy partner can dispense them, and there are also categories, including antibiotics and controlled medicines, where additional requirements may apply. If your order includes one of these products, we will let you know what information is needed while you are placing the order.
Do I need to post the original prescription or can I send a copy?
In many cases, you can first send a copy or provide the prescription information electronically, so there is no reason to mail the original simply to find out whether the order can be processed.
What happens after that depends on the medicine. Prescription requirements in Mexico are not identical for every category, and there are situations where the dispensing pharmacy may need the original document or may be required to retain the prescription. If that applies to your order, we will tell you before the medication is dispensed.
What type of consultations can I request?
You can request a consultation when a healthcare professional needs to look at your symptoms, medical history, current medicines, or an existing treatment before deciding whether a prescription or continued treatment is appropriate. This may be something as straightforward as discussing a medicine you already use, but there are also problems that simply cannot be assessed properly online, and in those cases the clinician may ask you to arrange an examination, laboratory testing, imaging, or local medical care.
Are the consultations legal and recognized in Mexico?
Yes, remote medical care can be provided in Mexico, although an online consultation is still a medical consultation and the same basic responsibilities do not disappear just because the doctor and patient are speaking remotely. The healthcare professional has to decide whether there is enough information to assess you safely and whether a prescription can reasonably be issued. Mexico does not have one separate rule that makes every type of online consultation automatically acceptable, so the clinician, the treatment involved, and the prescription requirements all have to be considered.
Can I buy a substitute medicine for the one on my prescription?
Sometimes you can. The Mexican market may have another brand or manufacturer offering the same active ingredient, strength, and dosage form, which is especially common when the medicine on your prescription was originally purchased in the United States or another country. We would not suggest choosing a substitute simply because the package looks similar or the price is lower, however, and if the prescription specifies a particular product or there is any question about equivalence, the dispensing pharmacy or prescriber may need to confirm the change.
Can I get medications from the U.S. brand I know?
Quite often the manufacturer you know is also present in Mexico, but that does not always mean the product will be sold under exactly the same name or in exactly the same package. Strengths, labeling, package quantities, and sometimes the brand itself can be different.
If the exact U.S. product is not available through our partner network, we can still check whether the Mexican market has a medicine with the same active ingredient and strength.
Are your medications authentic and approved in Mexico?
Products fulfilled through our pharmacy partners are intended for the Mexican pharmaceutical market and should carry the registration and product information required for sale in Mexico. COFEPRIS is the federal authority responsible for medicine registration in the country, and this is also why Mexican packaging may look quite different from what you see at a U.S. pharmacy even when you are looking at the same active ingredient. A different box, manufacturer name, or package size by itself does not mean that something is wrong with the medicine.
How can I check that a medication is genuine?
Start with the package you actually received. There are several details that are useful to compare before taking the medicine:
- Product and manufacturer name
- Lot or batch number
- Expiration date
- Condition of the box, container, and seals
- Mexican sanitary registration information, where applicable
- Whether the information on the outer package matches the immediate container
I’m experiencing side effects. What should I do?
Not every side effect means that treatment has to be stopped immediately, but a new reaction should not simply be ignored either. If it continues, becomes stronger, or started after changing the dose or adding another medicine, speak with a doctor or pharmacist and tell them exactly what you are taking.
There are also symptoms where waiting for an answer from an online pharmacy is not appropriate. Seek urgent medical care for:
- Difficulty breathing or severe shortness of breath
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
- Fainting or loss of consciousness
- Severe chest pain
- A rapidly developing allergic reaction
- Heavy or unusual bleeding
- Seizures or symptoms that are getting worse very quickly
Do I need to tell my doctor about my orders?
We recommend keeping your regular doctor informed about the medicines you take, including anything obtained from another pharmacy or ordered from another country. It gives your doctor a more complete picture when a dose needs to be changed, another medicine is added, an interaction has to be checked, or laboratory monitoring is involved. Keep the box or make a note of the product name, active ingredient, strength, dose, and manufacturer, especially if:
- You see more than one doctor;
- You take medicines for a long-term condition;
- You have recently started another treatment;
- Your dose has changed;
- Your treatment requires regular laboratory or clinical checks.
Is the service confidential, and will my regular doctor be informed of my treatment?
Your order and the medical information connected with it are treated as private information and are used where they are needed to provide the service. We do not automatically contact your regular doctor every time you order medication. If you want your doctor to receive treatment information, or if the clinician reviewing your case needs additional medical details before continuing, that can be handled during the consultation or ordering process.
What payment options can I use?
The payment methods currently available are shown when you reach checkout. Customers outside Mexico may also be able to use a foreign-issued credit or debit card, provided the payment provider and the card issuer allow the transaction.
A declined foreign card does not necessarily mean there is a problem with your order. Banks sometimes block international transactions automatically or ask the cardholder to complete an additional security check, so it is usually worth checking with the issuer before trying a different payment method.
How is my order delivered?
There are a few different hands involved between placing an order and receiving the parcel, which is why we keep pharmacy processing, transportation, and customs separate:
- We review the order and any prescription information that is required.
- The pharmacy partner responsible for fulfillment prepares the medication.
- The completed shipment is passed to the available postal or courier service.
- If the parcel is traveling internationally, customs or another authority in the destination country may review it.
- Once released, the local carrier takes care of final delivery and tracking where that service is available.
Is delivery free?
Not for every order. The shipping cost can depend on where the parcel is going, which delivery method is available, and sometimes the type of shipment itself. Any delivery charge that applies should be shown before you complete the order, so you can see it together with the rest of the cost.
Will my package be discreet?
We do not add unnecessary medical information to the outside of a shipment. A parcel still needs the normal information required by the carrier and, for international delivery, there may also be customs or product details that cannot simply be left off the package.
Can I open the package and check the items before accepting it from the delivery person?
Usually the answer is no, because by that stage the parcel has already been packed by the dispensing pharmacy and is being handled under the carrier’s delivery rules. Most drivers are there to deliver the package and cannot authorize it to be opened first. If a box arrives open, badly crushed, wet, or clearly looks as though it has been interfered with, take a few photographs before opening it and keep the box, labels, and medication while we look into what happened.
Can you deliver outside Mexico?
Yes, selected orders can be sent outside Mexico, but we always have to look at the medicine and destination before treating an international shipment as routine. A medicine being available through one of our pharmacy partners does not automatically mean that another country will allow it to enter, and some products are also unsuitable for ordinary international transportation.
The main things that can affect an overseas order are:
- The medication: some medicines have additional import or shipping restrictions.
- The country: each destination has its own rules for medicines arriving by mail or courier.
- The paperwork: a prescription or other information may be requested during clearance.
- The way the product has to be stored: not every medicine can spend days moving through a normal postal network.
- Customs: the final decision on whether the shipment can enter the country belongs to the authorities there.
What is your returns and cancellations policy?
If you change your mind about an order, contact us as early as you can. It is much easier to cancel something while it is still being reviewed than after the partner pharmacy has dispensed the medication and prepared the parcel. Once medicine has left the controlled pharmacy supply chain, it generally cannot simply be put back into normal inventory because nobody can confirm exactly how it was stored or handled after that point.
A different situation is when there is a problem with what you actually received. Contact us and keep the medicine, package, labels, and shipping materials if:
- The wrong medication was sent;
- Something is missing from the order;
- The quantity is different from what was ordered;
- The medicine or packaging arrived damaged;
- There is another clear fulfillment problem that needs to be checked.
I don’t speak Spanish. Can you still help me?
Yes. We can help in English with questions about finding a medicine, providing prescription information, placing an order, making a payment, or following a shipment. If a medical consultation is involved, the more important point is that you and the healthcare professional can understand each other clearly enough to discuss your symptoms, medical history, current treatment, and anything else that could affect the decision about your medicine.
How can I contact Meds World Mexico?
You can use the contact options listed on our website whenever you need help with medication availability, a prescription requirement, payment, delivery, or an order that is already being processed. If the order has already been placed, include the order number when you contact us because that allows us to find the details much faster.
For a medical emergency, however, do not wait for a support reply. Contact a doctor or emergency service where you are.
